The S.A.M. National Convention to Feature Stage AND Close-up Stars of Tomorrow

EXPANDED Stars of Tomorrow - Click here to apply for the S.A.M. 2012 Convention performance dates! The Society of American Magicians is seeking talented, young stage AND close-up magicians to perform at the S.A.M. National Convention, July 23 to 26, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The Close-up Stars of Tomorrow component is in addition to and is separate from the popular Stars of Tomorrow Stage Show. S.A. M. National Secretary Marlene Clark produces the Stars of Tomorrow Stage Show; S.Y.M. Assembly Y096 Leader Arlen Solomon of Hatboro, Pennsylvania, is handling the Close-up Stars of Tomorrow.

In addition to hiring stage performers and an emcee for the stage show at the annual convention, the S.A.M. will hire six young close-up magicians, which will add another dimension to young magicians’ experience at the national convention. It also will enhance the experience for seasoned attendees, said Clark.

“I’ve been wowed by our young stage magicians,” Clark said of Stars of Tomorrow Stage Show performers. “I know our close-up performers will not disappoint.”

Young magicians may apply to either or both venues, but they may appear in only one: stage or close-up. Each venue has its own application form. Applicants do not need to belong to the S.Y.M. or S.A.M. to be considered for either Stars of Tomorrow venue, but they must be age seven through 17 at the time of the convention. The deadline for receiving all applications is April 20, 2012.

Each performer will be paid and will receive two convention registrations (one for the performer and one for a parent or guardian), plus a year’s membership in the Society of Young Magicians (S.Y.M.). Close-up performers will have at least two opportunities to perform during the convention.

Information and applications are available here:
