February 13, 2010 - The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York offers KidZone an unique closed-circuit TV studio, which streams entertainment videos to pediatric patients, throughout the hospital.
Members of SYM #69 along with members of PA #1 have made special films for the hospital at this unique studio. The hospital offers free meeting space for the S A M.
This second annual show was a fund raiser to support the program, donating all proceeds to KidZone. SYM leader Albert Lasher produced another great show with members of the
SYM and a few guests. The show in two acts had a "close-up Intermission" in the theater lobby between the halves.
Along with seven members, alumni David Boyd and Julien Joiris and guest magician Cory Brager rounded out a perfectly balanced show. Emcee, young Ben, moved the show along
TJ opened the show with card manipulators, balls and the appearance of birds who mysteriously changed to large balloons . Danny added comedy with a restored napkin.
Tim followed with a great "cards across routine using audience members. Julien Joiris was up next with smart comedy in a series of missed card revelations.
David Boyd closed the first act with a straight jacket escape. Close up artists TJ, Rueben and David entertained the guests.
The second act opened with Cory doing a series of comedy effects which culminated with a "signed and restored" twenty dollar bill which had been shredded in error (??)
Ben succeeded in predicting a random selection of cards and closed with the ‘Fraidy Cat Rabbit". Alex was very comfortable on stage witha startling traveling card effect.
Math magician Rhys amazed us with a lightning "Magic Square". The show closed with Reuben doing some unbelievable moves with billiard balls, multiplying and changing colors
in mid air. He closed with original Linking Ring moves.
The full names of the performers will appear in the Magic Symbol. (the web cannot use the names of minors. ) Thanks go to stage manager and tech advisor Margaret Steele, and Reuben’s
dad as a stage hand. Show Photos by Dexter Lane. A full gallery of Dexter Lane photos can be viewed at www.dexterlane.com/show
