About The Society of Young Magicians

In 1981, six S.A.M. members (Donald Lea, P.N.P.; Edward Schuman, P.I.P.; Ray Corbin, P.N.P.; Dan Rodriguez, P.N.P.; Dick Laneau; and Wendel Gibson)
saw a need to give youth an opportunity to learn the art and ethics of magic at an early age. The outcome was assemblies of The Society of Young Magicians.
This is a worldwide organization for youth, ages 7 through 17, to promote interest in magic as a wholesome hobby that will help develop self-confidence and
skill; the ability to speak in public; discipline that comes from learning, practicing, and performing magic; and a sense of service through helping others
learn magic and by performing magic at charitable events.

The Society of Young Magicians is the Youth Branch of the Society of American Magicians,
the oldest and most prestigious magicians organization in the world.

There are approximately 60 local Assemblies around the world (including Canada; Bermuda; and Capetown, South Africa). Adult supervision and instruction
are provided by qualified members of The Society of American Magicians, one of the most prestigious worldwide organizations of its kind. You may join an
S.Y.M. Assembly or join as an at-large member if there is no Assembly in your area.
When you join the S.Y.M., you will receive a membership card and pin, a subscription to The Magic SYMbol (an online e-zine), and a discount to the S.A.M.
National Convention where many youth activities are featured.
